September brings the first international break of the season, with Chelsea returning to action on the 10th October at home to Bournemouth. Chelsea will travel to Merseyside twice in the month, with the Blues playing Everton in the early kick-of on Saturday 17th October.
A big London derby is next with Spurs visiting the Bridge before a last 16 tie away to Liverpool in the League Cup. October closes with a home tie in the Premier League against Manchester United.

Everton v Chelsea

Everton made a fine start to this season, going unbeaten in seven league and EFL Cup matches. Prior to the international break, they were two points better off than their visitors here, but few pundits expect the Toffees to end the campaign above Xabi Alonso’s men.
Chelsea have a decent record against the Toffees, but Everton won the corresponding fixture last term 3-0. We don’t predict a repeat of that here, but it will be a huge test for the away team. After a decent start, some had touted them as title dark horses. If they have any pretensions at all of pushing City and Arsenal, a win here is a must.
Chelsea v Spurs

Chelsea face Spurs in a London derby between two teams who remain part of the so-called Big 6. Neither has done enough on the pitch in recent seasons to merit that tag, and Tottenham have been so bad over the past two seasons and more that they are already in a relegation battle.
On home soil, the Blues will expect to get the win here, and they would love to really give Tottenham a thumping. Spurs have finished 17th in the past two seasons, and after five games of the current campaign they were rock bottom. Some fans would probably take 17th this season, so worrying are their results, and despite huge summer spending, we can’t see them taking anything from the Bridge.
Liverpool v Chelsea

The blockbuster clash of the round in the EFL Cup fourth round sees the Blues take on the Reds at Anfield. Despite facing a big rival, expect both managers to rotate, so we may not quite see the huge tie all neutrals would lose to witness. Even so, this will be well worth watching.
Liverpool have won this competition a record ten times, while Chelsea have five wins to their name. It may be more of a priority for Xabi Alonso’s men this term, with Liverpool having European fixtures to contend with, so we could just see an away win here, in a game that is a repeat of the final in both 2024 and 2022 (Liverpool lifted the cup both times).
Chelsea v Manchester United

The big games just keep coming for the Blues in October. After games against Everton, Spurs and Liverpool, they welcome Manchester United to the Bridge for their last game of October. Neither club has made the start to this campaign they would have wanted, so a win here would give both a real boost.
United’s underlying stats have been better than results, so this will certainly be a tricky game for Xabi Alonso’s men. The Red Devils did the league double over the Blues last term, so they will be out for revenge in what should be a closely fought contest.
